Our Take on World Floorcoverings

A big, well-reviewed showroom where reviewers repeatedly name the people who guided them. The site does not say whether installers are staff or subcontractors, which is worth asking.

Mike, Dexter and the team did an excellent job with helping us pick the right floors and were also very accommodating with a fast turnaround. Arsen did an amazing job installing the floors very quickly as well without any issues. Very impressed with how the floors turned out and also with the whole experience from start to finish. I have a three-level townhome where all the carpeting on the second floor needed to be replaced with hard-surface flooring. I also needed to replace the existing damaged laminate flooring on the main level, and to add new flooring to the unfinished basement and stairs. I was undecided between laminate and vinyl plank, so I visited three flooring companies for advice and quotes, including World Floorcoverings.

Steve O. at World Floorcoverings was by far the most knowledgeable and helpful person I spoke with. He carefully explained the options and helped me choose a good-quality, water-resistant laminate in an appropriate style and colour. He also offered practical advice about the basement stairs and laundry area, where I decided to install quality sheet vinyl.

Steve’s quote was easily the most detailed and informative of the three I received, while the price remained competitive with the others.

World Floorcoverings did an excellent job. They were able to begin within a reasonable timeframe and worked with me to schedule the project in phases to minimize disruption for the tenants living in the townhome.

I would also like to specifically commend Oleg for the quality of his work and his dedication to getting everything right. When an issue arose involving a couple of defective parts that needed to be replaced, he worked tirelessly to resolve it and ensure the job was completed properly.

I’m very pleased with both the finished flooring and the service I received, and I would gladly recommend World Floorcoverings.

Company Background

About World Floorcoverings

World Floorcoverings is a locally owned flooring showroom at 9206 51 Avenue NW, on the stretch of south Edmonton where several flooring stores cluster. Its website lists carpet, hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl, and tile and stone, and says the company has served the city for more than 20 years. Beyond retail it handles new-home and custom-build packages, renovations, commercial projects, insurance restoration and property management work, and it offers a room visualizer and design consultations.

With 447 Google reviews at 4.9, the company has one of the larger review pools here, and reviewers describe a team approach. Lionel thanked Mike and Lauren for help choosing and said installers Yuseff and a helper were the best he had used. M Chang worked with Don Sitek, a project manager, who sent a prompt quote, scheduled quickly and had installers arrive on time. Geoff replaced carpet on the second floor of a three-level townhome, damaged laminate on the main floor, and the basement and stairs, and a reviewer named Ashley credited Steve with guiding her through selection. Jacqui praised the range of brands, applications and colours.

The website does not say whether installers are employees or independent crews, and it does not publish a warranty, licence or staff list, so ask. Showroom hours are weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The company holds 4.9 from 447 Google reviews, read November 1, 2026.

Before booking, ask who installs the floor and who is on site, get a written quote that names product, underlay, removal and transitions, and confirm warranty terms in writing. It suits buyers who want samples, advice and an organized schedule. It suits do-it-yourself buyers less well.
