  • Jennifer L.5.0I just had a HVAC service call by a technician named Rylan. Great guy, very friendly, and good at his job. I'm a very happy camper. Also thanks to Brenna, in the main office, for kindly setting up today's appointment! Edit as of June 2024: I just had a senior technician by the name of TYLER come by today to correct a problem with some piping. A+ knowledge and service, Tyler! You corrected the problem beautifully and you are so knowledgeable and friendly. I'm so happy! Edit as of Summer 2026: I would also like to compliment technician DARREN for the beautiful job he did with my annual maintenance of my HVAC. A very friendly and professional person! I would also like to compliment electrician SEAN who came by to do a compliance check about something unexpected that happened. Friendly and patient with questions. Thanks!July 2026Google
  • Matthew Kulas3.0The installation itself appears to have been completed well, but my overall experience was somewhat disappointing. I ultimately paid ~ $2,300 more than I expected because the installation was not approved for the BC Hydro partial-home rebate. Based on the discussions before installation, I believed the system would qualify. In addition, there was roof damage during the installation that required repair; a cost which I incurred. Afterward, I sent an email outlining my concerns—not to ask for compensation, but to provide feedback—and received no response. While the equipment is working well, the communication surrounding rebate eligibility, the handling of the roof damage, and the lack of follow-up left me disappointed.July 2026Google
  • afshin shamshiri1.0I had an extremely disappointing experience with Coastal Heat Pumps. I booked a service appointment and was given a service window between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. On the day of the appointment, no technician arrived, and I received no phone call, text message, email, or any other notification that there would be a delay. After waiting through the entire appointment window, I called the company and was informed that the technician had become occupied with another job. The only options offered to me were to cancel or reschedule the appointment. What was most frustrating was not the delay itself, as unexpected situations can happen in any service business. The issue was the complete lack of communication and the apparent disregard for the customer's time. Had I been notified in advance, I could have adjusted my plans accordingly. I also requested to speak with a manager regarding my concerns. I was told the manager was in a meeting and was repeatedly directed back to the options of cancelling or rescheduling. When I asked whether a time could be arranged for the manager to contact me, the call was disconnected. When I called back, my call was not accepted, and I was eventually routed to an AI system that took my contact information to pass along to management. This was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I have encountered. The lack of communication, accountability, and respect for a customer's time left me with little confidence in the company's commitment to customer service. I am sharing this review so that other customers can make an informed decision based on my experience.June 2026Google

About Coastal Heat Pumps

Coastal Heat Pumps is a family-owned company that says it has been locally owned and operated for more than 20 years. Its Victoria office is at 538 Dupplin Road, near the Tillicum area, and it also runs an office in Sidney. It has 927 Google reviews at a 4.9 average as of September 24, 2026, the largest review base on this list and tied for the top rating.

Heat pumps are the whole business. Coastal designs and installs heat pump systems for houses, condos, stratas and commercial buildings, and it also handles air quality equipment and the electrical work an install needs. It is an Elite Fujitsu AirStage Plus dealer and a Samsung HVAC Preferred Plus dealer, and it says the brands it installs are backed by 10 to 12 year warranties. It is BBB accredited with an A+ rating, offers financing, and sells annual maintenance plans. It does not publish a Technical Safety BC licence number on its homepage.

Most reviews are glowing about design and installation. One homeowner said Coastal's salesperson was the only estimator to spot a ductwork problem in their house, and a long-time customer credited Mike Hipwell in sales and the installers for a smooth job. A maintenance customer praised Zach for explaining everything on an annual service visit under their yearly plan.

Two recent reviews are worth reading before you sign. One customer said they paid about $2,300 more than expected because the install did not qualify for the BC Hydro partial-home rebate they had counted on. Another said a technician never arrived for a service window and no one called. Confirm in writing which rebate your install qualifies for, and get the service appointment confirmed the day before.

Office hours are 8 AM to 4:30 PM on weekdays. Coastal suits Victoria homeowners and stratas who want a dedicated heat pump installer with a long track record and brand-backed warranties.
