- Derek Turkington5.0Always amazing service. We had our heat pumps installed by Foster over 5 years ago and they have been incredible. The annual service is always fast, the staff are friendly, and we couldn’t be happier.September 2026Google
- Susie Lum5.0I always get excellent service from Nick. He came last year to do the annual maintenance on my heat pump and noticed my intake vent was askew. It was always hard opening/closing the vent to monthly vacuum the air filter. It was a task I dreaded and he immediately adjusted the metal frame. This year, he spent time answering my air filter questions that I should have asked sooner. I thought it was sufficient to change the filter with my annual maintenance. I did not realize that I needed to change the dirty filter sooner to extend the life of the heat pump and have cleaner circulating air. He suggested a reputable Canadian supplier with reasonable rates. I am so happy because I know where I can purchase quality air filters for a good price. Many thanks Nick.September 2026Google

About Foster Heating & Cooling
Foster Heating & Cooling has been in business on Vancouver Island since 1928, which makes it the oldest company on this list by a wide margin. Its shop is on Kelvin Road in the Tillicum area, and it has 272 Google reviews at a 4.8 average as of September 24, 2026.
Foster covers most of the heating and cooling work a Victoria property needs. It installs and services heat pumps, furnaces, air conditioning, circulation pumps and hydronic systems, and it works for homeowners as well as strata corporations, property managers and commercial, industrial and institutional buildings. Mitsubishi and Trane are its main equipment brands. It offers 24/7 emergency service, financing and maintenance programs.
Its licensing is published in full. The website lists Technical Safety BC gas contractor licence LGA0003800, electrical contractor licence LEL0207764 and a boiler, pressure vessel and refrigeration licence, LBP00214631, and says its technicians are qualified for gas, electrical and refrigeration work under BC rules.
Reviews describe quick response and careful explanations. One customer said Foster diagnosed and fixed a heat pump problem within 24 hours of their first email, at the price they expected. Another switched to Foster after a different company never returned their call, and said Preston arrived within a week to service an aging heat pump. New homeowners praised Martyn for walking them through an unfamiliar system, and an install customer credited Stephen with answering every question during the quote. Long-time customers mention buying more than one heat pump from Foster over the years.
Foster suits Victoria homeowners, stratas and building managers who want a long-established company with published licences and the range to handle hydronic and commercial systems as well as home heat pumps. Its size means you may deal with several different people over a project, so ask who will be your main contact.
